Seed Dispersal

The recent warm weather has seen some fine ‘blue skies’ but a little closer look revealed an amazing spectacle.

When the sky was effectively back lit by the sun and viewing became possible by obscuring the direct glare via the house roof, the sky was alive with dandelion seed heads. I’ve never quite seen anything like it before as millions upon millions of seeds drifted on a light breeze for hour upon hour. The whole family was pulled out to witness the event! The images here were taken with the 500mm lens and the 1.4 converter with the focus set on manual with as faster shutter speed as possible.
